Mt. Washington Observatory - Day 1

After a perfect flight from Orlando, I arrived in Manchester with my future roommate waiting to pick me up. In the first 5 minutes Bob had made up for all the lack of response to my many emails. Not good with email, but that guy can talk. Liked him immediately, as well as his wife, Jeanne.

After a 6:15 AM start this morning, we arrived 2 1/2 hours later at the base, loaded our gear into a MWOBS vehicle with Ken at the wheel and headed up in heavy fog. I'm here, but still haven't seen Mt. Washington.

After an orientation to the kitchen, and this maze of a facility, Bob and I went for a short hike down the auto road... and saw some more fog. The winds have been cranking from 35 - 50 some mph, with a high wind speed of 71 last night. Not exactly ideal hiking weather. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
